Family Days At The Lake

It's a rare thing when the entire family can spend time together.
These are precious days.

In addition to the actual lake, Baby Girl loves her "little lake."
It's easy for us to keep an eye on her this way.

All meals are on the porch.
We squeezed 9 seats around a table meant for 6.
If the family grows any more, we might need a longer table.

The forecast was rain all weekend.
(How could they miss? It has rained every day for weeks.)
And it did rain every day...

...but there was enough break in the rain for us to get outside some each day.

A new restaurant opened just across the lake from us.
How handy that we can motor over for lunch.

There is so much yard for playing.
The girls made the most of the dry parts of the day.

Baby Girl is learning boating skills from her Daddy-O.
She is the 3rd granddaughter to sit in his lap and learn.

There wasn't much swimming. The rain made the water cold.
But there is always someone to brave it.

Usually the little girls are shouting, "Go faster, Daddy-O!"
But when the boat slows down there are things along the edges worth seeing.

A sunset cruise is one of the favorite things to do here.

Especially when it's followed by gooey s'mores.
Melted marshmallow in windblown hair.
Chocolate smeared hands and faces.
The best dessert ever.

There was some fishing over the weekend. Baby Girl caught nothing.
"Nope. No fish would come out of the water."
Little Sister had better luck.

If the photos make you think all we did over the weekend was eat,
you'd be close to right.
And every bite was delicious.

There was so much rain...

...and it was still one of the best memory-making kind of weekends
that we could have had.

    1. Barb, I do hope they have good memories from here. And will have stories to tell when they are grown. Goodness knows, lots of stories about this place have been told for years. Hoping the tradition continues.

    1. I thought about calling this post "A River Runs Through It" and posting what the yard looked like! But miraculously there was some time each day when we could go outside.
Believe it or not, we are still getting rain. Probably next, there will be NO rain for months. We are hard to please.

Hi, y'all! I love that you've taken time to tell me something here. Makes me feel like we're neighbors.
